Moon Facts

This week marks the 47th anniversary of the first human steps on the moon (July 20th, 1969), so we're going to celebrate with some cool physics facts (fizzix phacts) about the moon.

First of all, let's get a sense of how far away the moon is. On average, the moon is 238,855 miles away from us (384,400 km). That's all fine and dandy, but as humans, we're absolutely terrible at understanding very long distance, as I sort of covered with far larger distances previously.
